A Lake Tomahawk man has been sentenced to five years in prison, followed by five years of extended supervision after entering a no contest plea to a reduced charge of third degree sexual assault June 22 in Oneida County Circuit Court. Robert B. Aufrere, 54, was originally charged with two counts of first degree child sexual assault-sexual intercourse with a person under age 16. The second count was dismissed, but read into the record at sentencing June 29.

Aufrere was arrested in November, after the 11-year-old victim told a relative he had touched her inappropriately. According to the criminal complaint, Aufrere confessed during an interview with members of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office to touching the girl twice under the underwear in her vaginal area.

In addition to the prison sentence, Aufrere will required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
