STAR JOURNAL REPORT

The Rhinelander High School varsity boys basketball team got back on the winning track in a big way Thursday night with a 70-16 Great Northern Conference victory at Tomahawk.

The Hodags, who two days earlier had lost for only the second time this season in a non-conference home game against Merrill, led the Hatchets 44-9 at halftime.

Three RHS players ended up scoring in double figures led by Owen White with 22 points, followed by Brad Comer with 12 points and Bryce Schickert scoring 10 more.

The Hodags shot 25-49 (51 percent) from the field overall, 5-14 (35.7 percent) from 3-point range and 15-23 (65.2 percent) from the free-throw line.

RHS, which remained undefeated in the GNC at 9-0, also improved its overall record to 16-2 going into Saturday’s non-conference game at Hortonville.  The Hodags’ next conference game is Tuesday at home against Medford.
