BOYS SWIMMING: Hodags win dual over Medford, 96-72

STAR JOURNAL REPORT

The Rhinelander High School boys swimming team placed first in all 11 events and added three runner-up finishes Thursday when the Hodags won their Great Northern Conference dual meet at Medford, 96-72.

RHS’s three winning relay teams included: Russell Benoy, Thaddeus Heck, David King and Mathew Herman, 200-yard medley relay (2 minutes, 5.17 seconds); Thaddeus Heck, Joseph Heck, Martin Hoger and Herman, 200 freestyle relay (1:53.39); and Hugh Wiese, Devon Gaber, King and Benoy, 400 freestyle relay (4:31.8).

Individual winners for the Hodags included: Joseph Heck, 200 freestyle (2:11.99) and 100 breaststroke (1:12.77); Thaddeus Heck, 50 freestyle (26.83) and 100 butterfly (1:08.49); Hoger, 100 freestyle (57.57); King, 500 freestyle (5:47.97); Gaber, 100 backstroke (1:12.84); and Benoy, 200 individual medley (2:21.9).

RHS’s runner-up finishes included: King, 200 individual medley (2:22.3); Gaber, 100 butterfly (1:11.93); and Benoy, 500 freestyle (6:11.12).

Up next for the Hodags, who are 1-1 in GNC dual meets, is a home conference dual meet next Thursday against Antigo.
