STAR JOURNAL REPORT

After winning all 10 Great Northern Conference dual meets this season, the Rhinelander girls tennis team also topped Saturday’s GNC tournament it hosted to win a seventh consecutive conference title.

The Hodags, who entered the tournament with 126 points in dual competition, picked up a tournament-best 34 points at the conference meet for the top total score of 160.

RHS closed out the conference meet by placing either first or second in all seven levels of match play.

The Hodags’ three first-place finishers included Kristina Jacobson (No. 2 singles), Belinda Weddle (No. 3 singles) and Livi Roberts and Haley Seefeldt (No. 3 doubles).

RHS recorded four second-place finishes from Ivy Packard (No. 1 singles), Alex Oestreich (No. 4 singles), Erica Counter and Ali Schickert (No. 1 doubles) and Katie Krueger and Hannah Stroede (No. 2 doubles).

The Hodags’ next varsity competition is the Sub-Sectional on Oct. 3 at Wausau West High School.
