Red Robins fly over Hodag baseball team, 10-2

After pulling within a run by scoring twice in the bottom of the third inning, the Rhinelander High School baseball couldn’t bring home another run and ended up losing at home Thursday to the top team in the Great Northern Conference, Antigo, 10-2.
The Hodag’ Jacob DeMeyer pitched the first 4 2/3 innings and recorded the loss, allowing 10 earned runs on 11 hits with three walks while striking out three. Brandon Hess closed out the final 2 1/3 innings without giving up a run on four hits while striking out three.
Red Robins starting pitcher Nick Greening worked four innings and picked up the victory, allowing both runs, one earned, on five hits with two walks and a hit batter while striking out two.
RHS totaled seven hits for the game with DeMeyer and Brad Quade each recording two hits apiece.
The Hodags, who saw their season record drop to 6-4 in the GNC and 11-8 overall, next play a non-conference doubleheader Saturday at Rice Lake.
