Dave Polashek of Oconto Falls announced his candidacy for the State Senate this morning at Hodag Park in Rhinelander. The former school administrator and superintendent is challenging Senator Tom Tiffany in the November, 2016 election.
Polashek told the crowd of about 40 supporters that he will bring a “common sense approach” to the state senate.
“For the last 37 years as a Wisconsin school administrator, I’ve listened, brought people together and worked to address the challenges and opportunities facing our communities,” said Polashek. “Together, we can do more to invest in the infrastructure we need to create good jobs, protect our natural resources, support students, reverse the Madison assault on local control, and fight for the values of the Northwoods.”
An avid hunter, Polashek said he will respect Northern Wisconsin traditions and way of life, and “defend local control over natural resources, invest in our students and communities, and will support small business and job creation while listening to the unique needs of the people of the Northwoods.”
Polashek is married and has four adult children and seven grandchildren. The 12th Senate District includes all or parts of Florence, Forest, Langlade, Lincoln, Marathon, Marinette, Menominee, Oconto, Oneida, Shawno, and Vilas Counties.
