League of Women Voters will hear about mining issues
The League of Women Voters of the Northwoods (LWVNOW) will hold a brown bag lunch meeting Thursday, Nov. 14 at noon at the Minocqua Public Library.
The local League is interested in learning about mining in Wisconsin. Susan Sommer, an attorney, has been invited to provide the group with a history of Wisconsin’s mining laws through the present day.
Meetings alternate between Minocqua, Rhinelander and Lake Tomahawk on the second Thursday of the month. During the fall/winter months meetings take place at noon. In the spring/summer meetings are scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
The public is invited to attend. A noon lunch and meeting is planned for Wednesday, Dec 11 at Holiday Acres’ Three Coins Restaurant on Lake Thompson, Rhinelander.
The first meeting of the new year will be Thursday, Jan. 9. A brown bag lunch meeting, at noon, is tentatively scheduled for the Sloan Community Center, 7246 Main St, Lake Tomahawk.
