Charity Golf Scramble to benefit Tri-County Council-Lily?s House
Tri-County Council’s Annual Golf Scramble will be held in conjunction with the new Downtown Rhinelander Inc. event, PotatoFest this year. The golf scramble will be Sunday, Sept. 1, the day after the PotatoFest activities, at Rhinelander’s Northwood Golf Club.
The shot-gun start is at 8:30 a.m., with registration starting at 7:30 a.m. Participants should pre-register by calling Tri-County Council at 715-362-6841 during regular business hours, Monday-Friday. Golf will be followed by a social hour at Mulligan’s, followed by a buffet dinner luncheon at 2 p.m.
Tickets for the entire event are $80 per person, with dinner-only tickets available for $25. Dinner will be followed by the traditional raffles, silent auction and prize awards. Major sponsors include Ministry Health, WestSide Shell, Rhinelander Women’s Club, and anonymous donors. There are two “Hole-in-One” opportunities, with a car from Rhinelander GM, and a $2,000 gift certificate from Wickersham Jewelry. The “Putting Contest” which will be held starting at noon, is open to the public and all ages are invited to play. Participation in the scramble is not required. Fee is $5 for 3 putts, any putts that go into the cup will be entered into a drawing for a 50/50 cash split with the agency. Drawing will be at 3 p.m.
The golf event will be followed by the traditional raffles, silent auctions, prize awards, and buffet dinner. Guests will also be treated to musical entertainment by the Rhinelander teen girl band, “Critic” playing classic rock.
For the fourth year in a row, our prize selections will feature pottery created by Richard Fraser of Three Lakes. His work is unique and always brings a lot of interesting competitive bidding. For the second year, a print donated by Lake Tomahawk fish and wildlife artist, Rodd Umlauff. For the first time, a framed original painting will be auctioned by local artist Sheila Stillin, a framed original painting by art instructor Pat Dobrinska, a custom jewelry ensemble by Wickersham Jewelry, golf packages and many gift certificates will be available.
Many of our Northwoods business have contributed gift prizes and many valuable gift certificates at area and regional restaurants and gift shops. A full afternoon of fun is planned to help raise funds for the new “Lily’s House” shelter for battered women and to continue the work of the agency for all victims of abuse.
Sponsorship opportunities are still available and donations of prizes are still being accepted; all donations are tax deductible. Registration is open to everyone and you don’t need to be a great golfer to play. Cost is $80 all inclusive for the day and evening, or $25 for dinner, prizes and music.
