Improving capabilities and gaining a competitive edge are the focus of a three-hour training session to be hosted at the Bailey Edward Architecture office, located at 315 S. Oneida Avenue in Rhinelander, Thursday, June 20, from 1 to 4 p.m. Organized by the Wisconsin Procurement Institute (WisPro), the workshop features Shawn Lacina, contracting officer with the U.S. Forest Service Lake States Acquisition Team (LSAT). LSAT is responsible for all acquisitions over $25,000 in the four national forests in Wisconsin and Michigan.

In addition to learning about what it takes to contract with the U.S. Forest Service and what major projects are coming up, attendees will learn the basics of what is involved in making the government a customer. Insights on the different registrations and certifications will be shared, along with an understanding of how to conduct market research in the acronym-riddled government marketplace.

“As a participant in WisPro events across the state, I’ve applied the business advice and technical expertise gleaned from their workshops to business development strategies that are generating positive results,” said Laurie Goscha, associate principal at Bailey Edward. “Bailey Edward is pleased to be giving back to WisPro by hosting this U.S. Forest Service-focused workshop, and we look forward to identifying what we can do to address the facility needs of the Forest Service in a creative, responsive and professional manner.”

Registration is now open for the Federal Contracting 101 & Doing Business with the U.S. Forest Service workshop. Visit wispro.org/eventdetail.asp?ID=657 to register online and learn more about other outreach efforts organized by the Wisconsin Procurement Institute.
