On Saturday, May 4, the community is invited to attend the planting of a Little Library at Central School.

The festivities will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. and will including reading, stories, crafts, face painting, snacks and the planting of Rhinelander’s first Little Library.

As part of AmeriCorps National Service Day “Join Hands Day”, Amanda McAtee and Sharon Kintop, AmeriCorps workers with Kids In Need, are launching the first Little Library. Key Club students from Rhinelander High School will also be assisting.

The purpose of Little Libraries are to promote literacy and the love of reading by building free book exchanges worldwide, and to build a sense of community to share skills, creativity and wisdom across generations.

The festivities will be held at Central School in the Flower Garden Area (off Timber Drive). This community effort has been made possible by the volunteer efforts of:
• Jim McAtee and Adam Kope, who have built two Little Libraries
• The CHAMPS Art Club, who decorated the Little Library that will be planted on Saturday
• Kids In Need, and their generous contributors
• Community volunteers and contributors

Those who wish to donate books for young children (3rd grade and younger) may contact Amanda McAtee at (309) 738-4271 or email at [email protected].
