Obituary: James “J.R.” Newton

J.R. (James) Newton, age 71, of Tomahawk, died on Monday, March 25, 2013 at Ministry St. Clare’s Hospital in Weston. He was born Jan. 22, 1942 in Illinois to Albert and Ann Newton. He is survived by his wife, Becky of Tomahawk; mother Ann of Wausau; daughters Kim (Jim) Gara, Sandy Pothast, both of Brookfield, Ill. and Pam Kooi of Lockport, Ill.; brother Albert (Lynn) of Georgia; six grandchildren and two step-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his father Albert; and sister, Marilyn.

James was a broker-realtor for the past 26 years and was currently employed with Vacationland Properties in Tomahawk. He enjoyed watching and feeding birds, boating, fishing, nature, and being with his family – especially his grandchildren.

Visitation for J.R. Newton will be held on Friday, March 29 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Krueger Family Funeral Home in Tomahawk. Burial will be in the spring at Greenwood Cemetery in Tomahawk.
