Obituary: Elaine M. McCarthy

Elaine M. McCarthy, 75, of Lake Tomahawk died Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Howard Young Medical Center in Woodruff. She was born March 18, 1938, in Port Washington to Harvey and Viola (Roelse) Penkwitz. She is survived by her son, William A. McCarthy of Pewaukee; and her brother, Clyde E. Penkwitz of Peru, Ind. She was preceded in death by her parents; former husband Ronald McCarthy; and a sister, Arlene Moore. She was a practicing nurse for 45 years. She served as an itinerant nurse in Alaska and was a nursing volunteer in the Cook Islands. A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, March 27, from 11 a.m. until noon at Holy Family Catholic Church in Woodruff with Fr. James Hoffman officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will take place at 1:30 p.m. at Wilderness Rest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, she requested that memorial donations be made to the nursing program at Marian University, 45 S. National Ave., Fond du Lac, WI 54935, or to the Salvation Army.
