The Northwoods Children’s Museum (NCM) will host Easter Bunny Sunday on March 24 from noon to 4 p.m. The event, which is free to the public, is sponsored by the ShopKo Foundation and supported by many volunteers.

The Easter Bunny will be on hand to visit with guests and available for photo opportunities. Children will be treated to Easter-themed games at each exhibit and can win prizes and treats. They can also decorate cookies and participate in the beloved cake walk. There will also be both child- and adult-themed door prizes for lucky winners. “This is a great opportunity for everyone to come and experience the museum,” Rouleen Gartner, NCM Executive Director commented. “We’re very fortunate to be able to work with the ShopKo Foundation to offer this event at no cost.”

The event is very volunteer-intensive, requiring more than 45 volunteers to facilitate the games, develop materials and provide cakes and other goodies. Jayne Winblad, a volunteer for NCM, has been responsible for coordinating this event for many years in partnership with Margie Rychlock, NCM program coordinator. “I’m constantly amazed and thankful to all the folks that step up to help, especially Jayne,” said Rychlock, who added with a laugh, “Each cake that is donated for the cake walk saves me and my mom from making 50 the night before.” While Easter Bunny Sunday is free to the public, the museum asks that guests bring a non-perishable item for the food pantry.

Donations will be accepted as well. Those interested in providing cakes or volunteering at the event may contact Margie Rychlock at (715) 479-4623.
