Obituary: John James Rutkowski
John James Rutkowski, 89, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. He was born Aug. 15, 1923, to August and Antoinette (Dawidowicz) Rutkowski in Superior. He is survived by his wife, Lorrine; daughters Kim (Michael Wiedel) Rutkowski of Milwaukee and Robin (John Denapoli) Rutkowski of McHenry, Ill.; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 13 brothers and sisters. Mr. Rutkowski served in the Army from 1943 to 1945 with the 44th Infantry Division in Europe. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, three Battle Stars and the Bronze Star. He worked as the library media specialist at Rhinelander High School from 1954 until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of numerous community organizations. A funeral service will be held Friday, March 1, at 11 a.m. at Hildebrand-Russ Funeral Home with Fr. Tom Thakadipuram officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at Central Wisconsin Veteran Memorial Cemetery in King. (Hildebrand-Russ Funeral Home)
