Swimmers heat up the pool
Rhinelander Swim Club held its annual Freezing’ Season Invitational on Jan. 12 at the Rhinelander High School pool. The invitational had approximately 334 swimmers from six area teams. Rhinelander had a representation with 85 members participating in the meet, taking fourth in the points standing.
Annika Benoy (14)dropped additional 7.02 seconds in her 100yd IM for a new time of 1:17.65; Oliver Ferdinand (8) took 10.43 seconds from his 50yd Freestyle for a new time of 1:02.20; Zachary Morgan (13) took 7.67 seconds from his 50yd Freestyle for a new personal best of 47.69 seconds; Conor Natrop (13) dropped 7.85 seconds from his 50yd Backstroke for a time of 43.95 seconds; Will Rutkowski (9) dropped 7.25 seconds from his 50yd Backstroke for a time of 54.92 seconds; Olivia Schindler (10) took off 7.01 seconds in her 100yd IM for a new personal best of 1:58.46; Carly Seidl (13) took 12.07 seconds from her 100yd IM for a time of 1:35.06 and 16.72 seconds from her 100yd Freestyle for a time of 1:18.32; Sayge Stojadinovic (10) took off 9.89 seconds from her 100yd IM for a time of 1:29.19; Liana Teter (8) dropped 7.53 seconds from her 50yd Freestyle for a time of 1:02.76; Tommy Umlor (10) took off 8.58 seconds from his 50yd Butterfly; and Emma Wendt (12) took off 7.12 seconds from her 50yd Butterfly for a new personal best of 49.34 seconds.
Forty-five swimmers placed in the top 10 of one or more of their events. During the invitational, the young men and women joined forces in some mixed relay teams. They took four 2nd place ribbons, three 3rd place ribbons, four 4th place ribbons, three 5th place ribbons, and four 6th place ribbons.
The swim club will travel to Tomahawk on Jan. 19 in their last conference meet before the divisional meet in Merrill on Jan. 26. The championship meet will be held in Rhinelander.
