The Langlade County Culvers Trailblazer Challenge Sled Dog Races will be held Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 12 and 13. The event is hosted by the Antigo/Langlade County Chamber of Commerce and is sanctioned by the International Sled Dog Racing Association. The Wisconsin Trailblazers Dog Sled Club Inc. will manage the races.

MUSA (Mushing USA) recently announced that the event has been selected as a wild card qualification event for the 2013 International Federation of Sled Dog Sports World Championship Race. Qualifying mushers and their teams may travel to Alaska in March to represent the USA in that competition.

The Langlade County Trailblazer Challenge races will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, and at 9 a.m. Sunday in the Culver’s of Antigo parking lot. Various-sized teams of dogs will run different route lengths northeast of Antigo.

There will be several road crossings perfect for spectators to watch the dogs run. Free parking will be available near Culver’s of Antigo.
