Marvel in Manitowish Waters offers a schedule of activities for all ages to enjoy during the Christmas to New Year holiday week in addition to winter recreation for which the area is known.

Wednesday, Dec. 26: North Lakeland Ice open skating, 2 to 8 p.m. Bring ice skates and dress appropriately for outdoor ice skating (adult supervision required) on the North Lakeland Ice hockey rink. Donations are appreciated. Light concessions will be available. 12686 Cty. K, behind North Lakeland School. Call (715) 776-0653 for information.
Thursday, Dec. 27: Horse-drawn wagon rides, 2 to 5 p.m., sponsored by the Manitowish Waters Lions Club and Chamber of Commerce. Enjoy a 15 to 20 minute first-come first-served ride at North Lakeland Discovery Center. Hot chocolate and cookies will be available in the warming cabin. Cost is $3 for adults; children ages 12 and under ride for free. (715) 543-8488.

Winter Family Portraits, 2-5 p.m. at the North Lakeland Discovery Center.
Friday, Dec. 28: Family Play Day, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at North Lakeland Discovery Center.
“Kid Friendly” Soups & Chili Bar, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the North Lakeland Discovery Center.
“Winter Wonderland” stories and crafts at Koller Library, 10 a.m. (715) 543-2700.
Full moon snowshoe hikes, 6 p.m. Snowshoe rental $5 per pair.
Saturday, Dec. 29: Family Play Day, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at North Lakeland Discovery Center.
Snowshoeing Statehouse Lake Trail, 2 p.m. This 1.5-mile Discovery Center trail goes through woods, bogs and over Statehouse Lake. The trail is suitable for any level of snowshoeing experience.
North Lakeland Ice open skating, 4-8 p.m. Bring ice skates and dress appropriately for outdoor ice skating (adult supervision required) on the North Lakeland Ice hockey rink. Donations are appreciated. Light concessions will be available. (715) 776-0653.
Sunday, Dec. 30: Explore nature trails via snowshoe, cross-country skis or on foot, or ride the well groomed snowmobile trails.
Monday, Dec. 31 (New Year’s Eve): Contact the chamber or visit manitowishwaters.org for a list of New Year’s Eve celebrations and specials at area restaurants, taverns and retail businesses. Fireworks will be at midnight at the Pea Patch Saloon and Motel.
