Letter: Do what’s right for this country by Craig Strid
Editor:
Are you proud of the last four years of politics in America? The lies, deception and behavior short of being criminal. The manner in which public unions were dismantled and their teeth pulled. How cities were taken by a mere change of rules and property sold to not the highest bidder but to a fellow interested party at a deflated price with a promise of favors. A country’s progress blocked by personal feelings. Big money controlling ads. Selling bankruptcy rather then homes. Excessive speculation for profit. Voting rules changed to control the vote. Degradation of woman. Your Social Security and Medicare being distorted to justify change. CEOs selling out their employees for profit.
I do not argue what has been done, but I am troubled by the means by which the results are obtained. The church has been separated from government. The I’s move forward for change regardless of the welfare of their fellow brother and sister. Some might say that’s what politics is about. I will disagree. For most of my life this was a characteristic of countries that dehumanized their inhabitants. Countries that were controlled by parties with only self interest enforced by compromise and misuse of power. They exploited the populace of the working class with no consideration of humanity or welfare.
Corporate farms growing GMO corn and receiving high government subsidies and finding all avenues to inject corn syrup into our food to increase profit and the proliferation of diabetes.
I grew up in what I thought was a country that valued a man’s principles and his values to do right with no compromise. Compromise was looked upon as being cowardly.
Vote to bring back the values that made this country strong and proud.
At the end of the day a man has to be proud of his accomplishments by doing what’s right for himself, his family and his fellowman.
Food for thought…
