Concerts on the Riverwalk features Jazz music of Dixie Six
Traditional Jazz in the Dixieland style will be heard at the next Concerts on the Riverwalk Wednesday, Aug. 1, at 7 p.m., at the bandshell near Trig’s in Rhinelander.
Featuring players from Rhinelander, Minocqua and Sayner, Dixie Six has been entertaining Northwoods audiences of all ages for several years.
“We play music in the traditional Jazz style first popularized in New Orleans in the early 1900s,” said band leader Jim Leschke. “We hope to get your feet tapping and your hands clapping.”
Concert goers will hear such songs as “At the Jazz Band Ball” and “Livery Stable Blues”, as well as the popular “Tin Roof Blues.” Also on the playlist are tunes by “Jelly Roll” Morton and Edward “Kid” Ory.
As always, Concerts on the Riverwalk are free, and goodwill donations will be collected. In case of bad weather, the performance will be held at Nativity of Our Lord (St. Mary’s) on King Street just behind McDonald’s.
