Obituary: Janith I. Bateman
Janith I. Bateman, 67, of Rhinelander, died on July 7, 2012, at her home in Rhinelander. Janith was born on March 29, 1945, in Elgin, Ill., to Robert and Irene (Williams) Holtz.
She attended schools in St. Charles, graduating from the St. Charles High School in 1963. She then attended Northern Illinois University. On Aug. 7, 1965, she married Robert Bateman in St. Charles. They moved their family to Rhinelander, where Janith was then employed by WJFW TV 12 for many years. She had many interests which included quilting, gardening and collecting antiques. She loved spending time with her family especially making the homemade jelly for the grandkids. Janith was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her husband Robert Bateman of Rhinelander; her four daughters, Mindy (Kirk) Skindingsrude, Mary Bauer, Melissa Sisel and Michele (David) Baumgartner, all of Rhinelander; nine grandchildren; her two sisters, Mary Russell of Canton, Mich. and Nancy (Robert Paul) Holtz of Minocqua; her two brothers, Edd (Diana) Holtz of Batavia, Ill. and James Holtz of Washington; nieces; nephews; and many friends. She was preceded by her parents.
Graveside services for Janith will be held on Friday, July 13, at 10 a.m., at the Forest Home Cemetery in Rhinelander. A memorial is being established in Janith’s name for the James Beck Cancer Center in Rhinelander.
