Each week we answer questions our readers have asked. What do you really want to know? Drop us a line; maybe we can help.

“I am wondering why the American flag at the Rhinelander Post Office is left up 24 hours a day without being lit? I believe flag etiquette requires flags to be lowered at dusk if they are not lit.”

– Connie, Rhinelander

The Star Journal asked Darlyn, Jackson, postmaster of the Rhinelander Post Office. Jackson responded:

“The Rhinelander Post Office has a spotlight attached to the side of the building that illuminates the American flag from dusk to dawn.”

“Does the Oneida County Jail ever get over-crowded?”

– James, Rhinelander

The Star Journal asked Oneida County Sheriff Jeff Hoffman. Hoffman responded:

“The Oneida County Jail may house up to 200 inmates. Since the construction of this new facility and its occupancy in 1999, we have not been overcrowded.”
