Thankful for wildlife center support

Recently, I accepted a check from Barry Benecke, owner of “Wildlife in Wood” in St. Germain, for benefit of the Northwoods Wildlife Center in Minocqua. Mr. Benecke explained that on Sept. 10, he hosted a nine-hole golf event for family, friends and neighbors. Each player paid $5 to play one round of golf, knowing the proceeds were going toward helping the animals at the Center! According to Mr. Benecke, the Northwoods Wildlife Center was one of his late wife’s favorite non-profit organizations. The winner of the event, Jerry Verseman, was awarded a beautiful life-size Boreal Owl carving hand-made by Mr. Benecke! On behalf of the Northwoods Wildlife Center, I am sincerely grateful for Mr. Benecke’s donation, and for his continued support.

It never ceases to amaze me how generous and supportive the people of the Northwoods are. These are difficult financial times for all of us, yet our Northwoods communities and all of the kind-hearted people who live here, continue to find ways to support their local non-profits. Whether it’s a monetary donation, an item from our wish list, a donation of services, venison and fish donations or even a donation of aluminum cans-the people of the Northwoods have helped the Northwoods Wildlife Center carry on its mission to care for wildlife through rehabilitation, education and research for the past 32 years! We remain dedicated to continuing this mission for many years to come, and with the continued support and generosity of our Northwoods communities, I am certain we will!
