Arthur H. Ames, 82, of Rhinelander, died Oct. 7, 2011, at Milestone Assisted Living. He was born on Sept. 12, 1929, in Berwyn, Ill., to Hazen and Blanche Ames. He is survived by his wife, AnnaMaria; his son, Mark (Nancy); and two grandchildren. Arthur was CEO of Ames Industries in Chicago, Ill. before moving to Rhinelander in 1988. At Art’s request there will be no formal funeral service.

Joen C. Busche, 84, of Rhinelander, died Oct. 10, 2011, at Friendly village Nursing Home. She was born Jan. 25, 1927, in Green Bay, to Percy and Beatrice Day. She is survived by her partner Bob D’Odorico; her children, Jeff Busche of Iron Mountain, Mich., Barb (Jack) Craig of Harshaw, Pam (Rick) Hammel of Manawa, and Rita Busche, Pat Busche and Mike Busche, all of Rhinelander; four grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded by her ex-husband, Raymond Busche; her brother, Bill; and a sister, Marge. Joen was a manager for Fashion Bahr Store in Lakewood, Colo, before returning to Rhinelander. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m., at Grace Four Square Church.

Lonnie Czaplewski, 59, of Rhinelander, died Oct. 9, 2011, at her home. She was born Oct. 5, 1952, in West Allis to David and Ruth (Cross) Lehman. She is survived by her husband, Leonard; and her son, Troy of Wauwatosa. She was preceded by a son, Mark; her parents; her brother, Lyle; and a half-brother, Marshall. Lonnie worked at the Ben Franklin Store in Rhinelander. Family services have been held.

Marion V. Cloutier, 85, of Rhinelander, died Oct. 5, 2011, at Alice Haus. She was born Nov. 27, 1925, in Rhinelander, to Archel and Mary Cloutier. She is survived by several cousins, including Maxine Glessing of Rhinelander. Maxine worked for most of her career at Saint Mary’s Hospital holding various positions. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Oct. 11 at Nativity of Our Lord Parish – St. Mary’s site. Interment was in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

James H. Dekker, 80, of Rhinelander, died Oct. 8, 2011, at his home. He was born June 24, 1931, in Rhinelander, to James and Hazel Dekker. He is survived by his wife, Betty; his children, Thomas (Nancy) of Rhinelander, Janet (Robert) Dall Jr. of Hazelhurst, James (Gretchen) Dekker of N.M. and Sandra (Scott) Kneser of Wausau; five grandchildren; and his sisters, Marion Timm and Donna Dekker. He was preceded by his sister, Lois Lawonn; and his brother, Edward Dekker. James served in the U.S. Air Force, and then worked at Dekker Service for many years. He also worked at Book World for the last 16 years. A memorial service was held Oct. 12 at the First United Methodist Church.

Janice M. Drexler, 61, of Rhinelander, died Oct. 8, 2011, at her home. She was born March 2, 1950, in Marshfield to Gilbert and Irene Engmann. She is survived by her husband, Lawrence; her daughter, Tonya (Doug Nehring); her son, Eric (Karla); her brother, Donald (Kathy) Engmann; her sisters, Carol (David) Olson and Mary Hrebil; and a grandson. She was preceded by her parents; a sister, Margaret Bohman; and a brother, Richard Engmann. From 1985 to 1997 Janice ran her own daycare business. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Oct. 14 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment was in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.

Nadine J. “Penny” Fisher, 89, of Monico, died Oct. 6, 2011, at her home. She was born Sept. 9, 1922, in Monico, to Edward and Ella Meyers. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Fisher (Conrad Zander) of Monico; her sisters, Delaine Ory of Racine, Nilah (Rodney) Visser of Elcho and Janet (Jim) Bartz of Crandon. She was preceded by her husband, Jerome in 2007; and her siblings, John, Marie, Margaret, Withas, Bernice, Louise, William, Robert, Dorothy and Edward. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 11 a.m., at the family home at 1080 Kurtz Rd. in Monico.

Lorraine Franke, 77, of Rhinelander, died Oct. 10, 2011, at St. Claire’s Hospital in Weston. She was born Jan. 11, 1934, in Rhinelander, to Elvis and Ruby Smith. She is survived by two daughters, Teri (Steve) Kindt of Rhinelander and Joni (Tony) Cure of Bruce Crossing, Mich.; grandchildren’ great grandchildren; and her sister, Sandi Vandervest of Rhinelander. She was preceded by her husband, Paul; a brother, Vernon; and her sister, Nancy. Private family services have been held.

Dorene M. Swartwout, 74, of Rhinelander, died Oct. 10, 2011, at her home. She was born Aug. 15, 1937, in Rhinelander, to Roy “Butch” and Evelyn Gilbert. She is survived by her children, Bradley (Janet) Clairmore of Guston, K.Y., Julie Fraser of Oak Creek; Renee (Jack) Wotnoske of Menominee, Mich., Brenda (Tom) Shepard of Harshaw, Jeff (Juanna) Clairmore of Hurst, Texas, Christopher (Robin) Clairmore of Rhinelander, Rodney (Patsy) Clairmore of Littleton, Colo., and Jill (Darren) Friday of Rhinelander; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded by her husband, Lawrence in 2002; two brothers, William and Patrick; and two sisters, Delores Berard and Sandra Jackson. A memorial service was held Oct. 12 at Hildebrand-Russ Funeral Home. Inurnment was in Forest Home Cemetery.
