Hodag Highlights: Grapplers pin down first conference win over Medford

The Rhinelander High School boys wrestling team secured their first conference victory of the season Thursday night, defeating Medford 46-24 in front of their home crowd. The evening started roughly for the Hodags, who dropped the first two contested matches at 106 and 120 pounds, both by pin. However, Rhinelander quickly turned the tide with an impressive run of five consecutive victories.
Michael Tredupp sparked the comeback, pinning his opponent with just 54 seconds remaining in the first period. The momentum carried through as Ivan Loka, Hoyt Dantoin, Avrom Barr, and Anthony Boldt each claimed wins in their respective weight classes, putting the Hodags firmly in control of the meet. While Rhinelander did suffer two more losses by pin later in the competition, the team benefited from three forfeits in their favor, which helped secure the comfortable 22-point victory margin. The win marks an important milestone for the Hodags as they continue their conference season with renewed confidence.
