RCF announces Natural Wonder Fund

In 1992, Stan and Teri Strub of Sheboygan County purchased an unfinished cabin on a small, non-motorized lake in Rhinelander. This moment marked a pivotal chapter in their lives, offering a year-round connection to the serene beauty of Wisconsin’s Northwoods. Over the years, they shared this peaceful retreat with family, friends, and pets—deepening their belief in the importance of quiet exploration and respectful interaction with nature.
According to a Rhinelander Community Foundation (RCF) press release, that belief has now blossomed into a legacy. The Strubs have partnered with RCF to establish The Natural Wonder Fund, an endowed fund created to promote non-motorized, outdoor experiences throughout the greater Rhinelander area.
According to the press release, the fund reflects the couple’s commitment to protecting the region’s natural tranquility and supporting efforts that make outdoor recreation accessible, inclusive, and environmentally responsible.
The Natural Wonder Fund supports activities and initiatives that allow individuals to experience the beauty of the Northwoods without disrupting its delicate ecosystem. Examples of eligible activities include hiking, canoeing, kayaking, disc golf, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and ice skating. All supported activities must be non-motorized.
All funding requests will be evaluated with consideration of other available resources to ensure the greatest impact and equitable access.
