Hodag soccer ends Lakeland’s winning streak

Posted

The Lakeland Thunderbirds welcomed the Rhinelander High School girls soccer team to Lakeland on Tuesday, April 22. It was a low-scoring affair but Rhinelander ended Lakeland’s 27-game winning streak with a 1-0 win.
Lindsey Hoerchler scored in the sixth minute of the game to give Rhinelander the victory. The Hodags controlled the ball for the majority of the game. Keeper Rylee Mickevicius recorded only two saves as the Hodags outshot the T-Birds 14-6 but with only 2 on net.
On April 24, the Hodags entertained Medford, a team they have had problems with in the past. The Raiders like to load the box which makes it difficult to score. The Hodags used speed and accurate passing to get on the board.
Vivian Lamers had 3 goals and Ella Miljevich 2, giving the Hodags a 5-0 win. The Hodags outshot the Raiders 46-2.
