The Rhinelander High School softball team defeated Phillips 15-5 on Saturday, March 30.
The two teams were set to square off as part of a Saturday-Sunday bracket of the Danny Mac Tournament, however the bracket the Hodags were in was canceled due to severe weather.
Instead, Phillips made the trip to Rhinelander where the two teams played the last game in the Hodag Dome before it was damaged in last weekend’s ice storm. Freshman Aleece Johnson was the starting pitcher. She was backed up by fellow freshman Kendall Vanney who pitched the last two innings of the five-inning game.
At the plate, Vanney hit two doubles and drove in three runs. Cassidy Lindner had two hits and drove in two runs while Kadyn Taylor and Julia Gray also drove in 2 runs each.
