Hodag Highlights: Soccer goes 0-2 in Marshfield

Posted

Instead of hosting a home game as hoped, the Rhinelander High School girls soccer team opened its season on the road Friday, April 4.. With the Hodag Dome down and snow on the Mike Webster stadium, turf games were moved to Marshfield.

The first opponent was Eau Claire North. In the first half a slow rolling ball got by keeper Emalee Detienne for a North 1-0 lead. Detienne made 4 saves in the first half. That score held up as the Hodags could not find the back of the net, despite controlling the game in the second half. Rylee Mickevicius was in goal for the second half and made two saves. One of the saves was on a penalty kick to keep the game score at 1-0. The Hodags generated a total of 3 shots on goal in the game.

On Saturday, the Hodags played Marshfield and lost 3-0.
