It’s been a strong spring for the Rhinelander High School track team. Both the boys and girls squads captured Great Northern Conference titles in Mosinee on May 22. On May 27, Rhinelander hosted the regional track meet at Mike Webster Stadium. The boys won the regional title while the girls finished second.
The boys team sent 12 entries to sectionals and the girls advanced 13.
Truman Lamers advanced to state in boys high jump while the girls qualified several entries.
Advancing to state for the boys was Truman Lamers in the high jump.
Aila Bergman broke the school record in the 300 yard hurdles and was on the 4x400 relay with Lexi Bishop, Lucy Eddy and Macy Myers that also broke a school record. The foursome of Shyanne Hueckstaedt, Violet Biolo, Ellie Cummings and Lexi Bishop broke a 4x100 yard relay record that was set in 1984 and will be at state. The 4x200 relay of Bishop, Lucy Eddy, Myers and Biolo received an extra qualifying spot due to the school record and the time was in the top 10 of the state.
Myers also qualified for state in the pole vault with an 11-foot jump.
