The Rhinelander High School girls tennis team defeated Lakeland 5-2 on Thursday to finish the dual meet season with a 7-1 conference record and create a four-way race for the conference championship.
The Hodags earned 86 conference points, tying them with Medford, which finished 5-3 in dual meets but also accumulated 86 points based on individual match victories. Undefeated Newman Catholic has 84 points, while Stevens Point Pacelli remains in contention with 70 points.
The tight standings set up a highly competitive conference tournament Thursday in Rhinelander, where the title will be determined.
Against Lakeland, Rhinelander secured victories by sweeping all three doubles matches and winning at No. 3 and No. 4 singles to close out its regular season schedule.
