HODAG HIGHLIGHTS: Rhinelander boys tennis blanks Pacelli 7-0, takes conference lead heading into tournament

Posted

The Rhinelander High School boys tennis team closed out its regular season dual meet schedule in dominant fashion May 11, sweeping Stevens Point Pacelli 7-0 on the home courts to take a four-point lead over Medford heading into this week’s conference meet.
The Hodags entered the match already assured of at least three points, as Pacelli arrived with only four flights available to compete, forfeiting the remaining three matches before a ball was struck. Rhinelander made the most of the opportunity, winning all four contested flights in straight sets to finish with the clean sweep.
At singles, Asher Rivord took care of business at the No. 1 position, with Calvin Loomis following suit at No. 2 and Aiden Lueder rounding out the singles victories at No. 3. All three won their matches without dropping a set.
The No. 1 doubles team of Henry Bonardelli and Danek Koniar capped the afternoon with a straight-set win of their own, sending the home crowd home happy.
The victory gives Rhinelander the conference lead by four points over Medford. The Hodags will look to close out the title when the Great Northern Conference meet takes place Wednesday.
