Hodag Highlights: Rhinelander Babe Ruth earns dramatic comeback win

The Rhinelander Babe Ruth senior division team hosted Tomahawk on Tuesday, July 8 and the contest was decided by a walk-off single. The Tomahawk batters started strong against starting pitcher Tanner Augustine, scoring two runs in the first inning and another in the second. The Hodags scored single runs in the first and second to trail 3-2 after 2 innings. Tomahawk was held scoreless in the 3rd and 4th innings while the Hodags took the lead in the 4th by scoring 2 runs. Tomahawk battled back in the fifth, putting up 3 to take a 6-4 lead. The Hodags were unable to score in the 5th while Tomahawk was held scoreless in the 6th. The Hodags would score 2 in the bottom of the 6th to tie the game only to see Tomahawk score in the top of the 7th and retake the lead 7-6.
In the top of the 7th, Blake Bauer was hit by a pitch. After making his way to third, he tied the score on a wild pitch.
Rhinelander would win in dramatic fashion as another Hodag reached base after being hit by a pitch. A single by Daniel Meier through the left side of the infield sent the runner to home base and gave the Hodags the victory.
