Hodag Highlights: Rebels struggle through home invite

Posted

The annual Rebel Invite was to take place over Fathers Day weekend but Mother Nature had other plans. The Friday and Saturday games were rained out and the schedule was rearranged with the remaining teams each playing two games on Sunday. The Fond du Lac St. Mary Springs team left on Saturday leaving 4 teams to play Sunday.
The Rebels faced Oconomowoc to start the tournament with Mason Schmidt on the mound. Oconomowoc scored runs in the first three innings, putting up two runs in the first and second and three in the third. The Rebels mustered only 2 hits and were shut out as the home team was defeated 7-0. Rebel pitching gave up too many walks and hit batsmen in the contest.
In the final game of the day the Rebels took on DC Everest. Jackson Waydick pitched and took the loss. Everest scored 2 in the second only to see the Rebels come back and tie the game in the third. Everest would then score two in the 4th to retake the lead and would add an insurance run in the 5th for a final score of 5-2. The Rebels scored two runs on 5 hits and had 1 error. Everest scored 5 runs on 6 hits and did not commit any errors.
