Hodag Highlights: Rebels post mixed results in summer action

The local American Legion baseball team, the Rhinelander Rebels, recently hosted Wittenberg-Birnamwood. The Rebels lost to the visitors when the Rebels played at Wittenberg in June. The visitors scored a run in the top of the first with only one hit. That would be the only run scored by Witt-Birn in the game. The Rebels scored two in the 2nd, 1 in the third and three in the fourth to win 6-1. Vince White started on the mound for the Rebels and earned the win. Sawyer Bishop relieved White and picked up the save.
On the last weekend in June, the Rebels played in Merrill at the annual invite. The Rebels lost to Merrill on Friday, defeated Minocqua Saturday morning and then lost to Chippewa Falls in a close game 9-8 later in the day.
