The Northwoods Track Club hosted its second summer meet Friday, July 11 at Mike Webster Stadium, but inclement weather forced organizers to cancel the event midway through the competition.
Attendance was lower than usual, with roughly half the number of athletes compared to the season’s first meet. Organizers attributed the smaller turnout to overlapping summer vacations and Hodag Country Fest.
The meet began under overcast skies, but a steady rain developed partway through the evening, eventually turning into a downpour that halted the remainder of the events. Approximately half of the scheduled competitions were completed before the cancellation.
Despite the weather, participants enjoyed the opportunity to compete and expressed interest in returning to finish the meet. Organizers are considering rescheduling the remaining events later this summer. The club held its first meet on June 27, with participants ranging in age from 3 to 64.
