The Hodag Dome hosted the annual Hodag Scramble wrestling tournament on Friday, Dec. 19, drawing 25 boys teams and 22 girls teams to compete on the mats.
The Rhinelander High School girls team finished ninth overall, led by a dominant performance from Cassidy Lindner, who claimed first place in her weight class. Lindner went 5-0 on the day, pinning her first three opponents before grinding out a 3-1 victory in the semifinals. In the championship match, Lindner faced Merrill's Kendell Klug and secured the title with a 14-10 decision.
Other top finishers for the Hodag girls included Miranda Daab in fourth place, Nevaeh Anderson in fifth, and Katie Hazelton and Skylar Leitl both earning sixth-place medals.
The Rhinelander boys team placed 21st in the team standings. Ivan Loka led the Hodags with a seventh-place finish at 132 pounds. Loka's day began with an all-Hodag matchup against teammate Weston Kibler in the opening round, with Loka emerging victorious.
Michael Tredupp and Gage Anderson each finished eighth in their respective weight classes for the Hodag boys.
