The Rhinelander High School girls swim team defeated Division I Stevens Point 92-78 Tuesday at the Heck Community Pool, using superior depth to overcome the Panthers’ advantage in first-place finishes.
Stevens Point won six of the 11 events, but Rhinelander collected six second-place and nine third-place finishes in the nonconference dual meet.
Emma Houg led the Hodags with an individual victory in the 200-yard freestyle. Other Rhinelander winners included Camilla Gruett (100 butterfly), Rylee Mickevicius (500 freestyle) and Vivian Lamers (100 breaststroke).
The Hodags also won the 200 freestyle relay with the team of June Chiamulera, Ella Heck, Gruett and Lamers.
Rhinelander swept the top three spots in the 200 freestyle, with Houg winning followed by Heck and Chiamulera.
The Hodags will host Lakeland on Thursday.
