The Rhinelander High School boys basketball team made a resounding statement in their season opener Tuesday night Nov. 25, overwhelming the visiting Crandon Cardinals 83-25 at home.
The Hodags set the tone early, scoring first and never relinquishing control. By halftime, Rhinelander had built a commanding 47-11 advantage, showcasing balanced scoring and suffocating defense that limited the Cardinals throughout the contest.
Senior Devon Feck delivered a flawless performance to pace the Hodags, finishing with a game-high 21 points on perfect 8-for-8 shooting from the field. Feck also converted both of his free throw attempts following a technical foul assessed to Crandon. His efficient scoring highlighted Rhinelander’s offensive precision on the night.
The Hodags demonstrated their composure at the charity stripe, converting all six of their team free throw attempts without a miss.
Three other Rhinelander players reached double figures in the victory. Abe Gretzinger contributed 16 points, while Jaytn Barkus added 12 and Rowan Wiczek chipped in 10, reflecting the depth and versatility of the Hodags’ offensive attack.
The Hodags were scheduled to travel to Ashland on Monday evening, Dec. 1.
