On Thursday, Feb. 13, the Hodags played Chequamegon in Park Falls and won the game 4-1 to give the Hodags their third win of the season.
Kadin Rodiziczak and Van Tulowitzky each scored a goal, and Dylan Shefveland scored twice.
On Saturday, Feb. 15, the Rhinelander Ice Arena was host to the conference tournament finals. Medford and Rhinelander played the first game of the day for seventh and eighth place.
Medford scored first in the first period and took a 1-0 lead going into the second. Medford scored two more in the second, but Drake Nelson scored a goal to make the score 3-1 going into the third period.
In the third period, Carsen Plehn scored for the Hodags to put the Hodags only down by one with 5:42 remaining in the game.
With 1:55 left in regulation, Dylan Shefveland put a rebound in the back of the net to tie the game at three, which is how regulation ended.
In conference play, ties then go to a sudden death eight-minute overtime.
The score remained tied after the eight-minute period. Next was a five-minute, three-on-three period.
Medford scored the game-winner just 27 seconds into the period to win.
For the game, the boys wore their throwback Rhinelander Hornet jerseys.
Next for the Hodags is a regional game in Tomahawk against the team that won the conference regular season and the tournament on Thursday, Feb. 20, at Sara Park.
Tomahawk is the No. 1 ranked Division 2 team in the state.
