The Rhinelander High School football team kicked off the 2025 season on Aug. 5, with equipment handout and the first practice at Mike Webster Stadium.
The first practice session began with a chalk talk segment in the team room before players took to the turf. Practice ran from 5 to 8:30 p.m., with two chalk talk segments. Coaches introduced the offensive playbook, giving players repetitions while the defense worked to shut them down.
Defensive schemes were installed later in the week. Players donned full pads on Friday, continuing to review both offense and defense while running position drills.
Saturday’s practice moved indoors to the Hodag Dome due to thunderstorms. Parents were invited to attend and take part in warm-up drills before watching the team run offensive and defensive sets.
The varsity squad will travel to Antigo for a scrimmage on Aug. 15, followed by the season opener in Ashland on Aug. 22.
