The Rhinelander Rebels American Legion baseball team played their first game of the season on Wednesday, June 11, welcoming the Antigo Typhoon to town. Rebel pitchers Jackson Waydick, who started on the mound, and Dylan Vanderbunt gave up 5 runs. The Rebels scored 4 in the first and second innings to lead 8-6 after 3 innings. In the 4th, the home team scored another 4 to increase the lead to 12-6. The Typhoon were held scoreless in the 5th and the Rebels needed to score another 4 to end the game via the 10-run rule.
The Rebels scored 3 runs and Vince White was on 3rd, after hitting a double and getting to 3rd on a fielder’s choice. Barak Rappley then walked and was followed in the order by Waydick. A wild pitch was thrown, allowing White to score from 3rd to end the game 16-6.
