Pumpkin carving contest
Carving contest runs through Oct. 29
Star Journal
The Rhinelander District Library is looking for help turning 50 pumpkins into jack-o-lanterns and beautiful works of art to brighten the library steps.
A limited supply of pumpkins are available free – one per family – to participate in the library’s pumpkin carving contest. Pick up a pumpkin during library hours. Carve it and return it to the library to be displayed on its historic front steps. They will be lit nightly for everyone to see, until Halloween.
Everyone who carves a pumpkin will have their name entered into a drawing for a $25 gift certificate from Mel’s Trading Post. The library staff will choose a favorite, which will also be awarded a $25 Mel’s Trading Post gift certificate. The pumpkins were made available through a donation from the Rhinelander Walmart.
Carved pumpkins can be picked up 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Friday, Oct. 30. For more information, call 715-365-1070.
