Obituary: Vanda C. Sabota
Vanda C. Sabota, age 94, of Arborwood Lodge, Wisconsin Rapids, WI, died Thursday, January 17, 2013, at Riverview Hospital, Wisconsin Rapids, WI.
Funeral services are at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Rev. John Steiner will officiate. Burial at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, WI on Tuesday from 9:30-11:00 a.m.
Vanda was born November 22, 1918, in Wisconsin Rapids, WI to Albert and Mary (Shymanski) Konietzki. She married Teofil “Tuffy” Sabota on June 17, 1939, in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. He died November 18, 1983. Vanda was a clerk at Town Jewelers in Wisconsin Rapids for 20 years.
Vanda was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Catholic Order of Foresters, where she served as financial secretary. She enjoyed reading, word search and crocheting.
Vanda is survived by two children: Nancy (Harris) Timm of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, and Roger (Judy) Sabota of Rhinelander, WI; seven grandchildren, Kip (Joy) Kickland of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Michelle (Kevin Smits) Anunson of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Craig (Natalie) Sabota of Appleton, WI, Marcia (Shane) Arneson of Chippewa Falls, WI, Tammy (Kyle) Schroeder of Somerset, WI, Amy (Mark) Mancl of Sheboygan, WI, and Eric (Stacey) Timm of Shell Rock, Iowa; 18 great-grandchildren, Ashley (Chad) Lokken of Green Bay, WI, Cody Kickland of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Casey (Dustin Saeger) Wheeler of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Courtney and Carley Anunson of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Jack and Mason Sabota of Appleton, WI, Kelsey and Gretchen Arneson of Chippewa Falls, WI, William, Katherine and John Schroeder of Somerset, WI, Anna, Erin, Luke and Mia Mancl of Sheboygan, WI, and Dominick and Jenna Timm of Shell Rock, IA; two great-great-granddaughters, Aubrey and Adalee, and special friend, Boni Weber.
Vanda was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers, Louis, Victor, Sylvester and Edmund Konietzki ; and three sisters, Stella Schuetz, Nancy Krohn and Helen Kurz.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Vanda’s name will be named at a later date.
