Tax volunteers needed
Are you looking for a chance to give back to the community? Do you enjoy helping people who really appreciate your help? Can you work with computers? If so, you can provide a valuable service by participating as a volunteer in the AARP Tax-Aide/Tax Counseling for the Elderly Program. This program is now seeking one or two additional volunteers to join our core group of counselors.
Tax-Aide is a free community service program offered by the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) working in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service.
People who volunteer to serve as counselors should be willing to work with computers, participate in a three-day training course sponsored by the IRS and the Wisconsin Department of Revenue, and should also be willing to devote about six hours for tax preparation per week working at the new Oneida Senior Center during February, March and the first half of April. Scheduling is flexible and accommodations can be made to fit individual schedules. You will be working with other experienced counselors. The work is very rewarding and truly appreciated by those helped with their tax issues.
To volunteer in the Rhinelander area or to learn more about the program, contact Nancy Brissee at (715) 369-5334 or Chuck Berigan at (715) 356-7009.
