Water fitness classes offer great workout
Those who would like to change up their workout routine or who have sore joints, muscles or arthritis may want to try the YMCA’s water fitness classes.
Water fitness classes have been shown to improve muscular strength and endurance, flexibility and cardiovascular fitness without deteriorating the joints. Getting into the pool to exercise is also a great way to cross-train for other sports like running and skiing. For all potential health seekers out there, the water is a great way to take the first step in health and fitness because it’s easy for individuals to adapt and modify exercises to work for them.
The YMCA of the Northwoods offers specialty classes like the Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program. This class has increased in enrollment because the benefits of water on joints are second to none. Arthritis sufferers will experience better range of motion and reduction in pain after this class.
