Space limited for 2012 Booster Club golf scramble
The 2012 Rhinelander Athletic Booster Club Golf Scramble is set for Sunday, Aug. 5. This year’s event features some changes that should make event at Rhinelander Country Club better than ever.
The Rhinelander ABC?welcomes Rhinelander GM?Auto Center as the title sponsor for this year’s tournament. With the title sponsorship, Rhinelander GM?Auto Center is donating $3,000 to the ABC.
“We are very grateful to have Rhinelander GM Auto Center on board,”?ABC board member and golf committee member Jeremy Mayo said. “Their dedication to the community shows through in all the various organizations they support. Their support of the Athletic Booster Club and this tournament will serve to help several area sports teams.”
“Rhinelander GM Auto Center is excited to be a part of this year’s Athletic Booster Club Scramble,”?said Tarsie Goes, Rhinelander GM?Auto Center marketing coordinator. “ABC does an outstanding job of supporting youth sports in our community, and living up to our value of being good community citizens. It only seemed right to pair up for this fun event at the Rhinelander Country Club.”
In the past, Rhinelander GM?Auto Center provided the hole-in-one prizes for the tournament. They will do so again this year with hole-in-one prizes on all six of the par 3s during the 18-hole round. The biggest prize will be on the par-3 fifth where golfers will have a chance to win a 2013 Chevy Malibu.
This year, the ABC and Rhinelander Country Club will give players the opportunity to sink a clutch putt in the Aspirus Putting Challenge. For $5, players will get three chances to sink a pre-determined putt on the practice green. The player who sinks the most putts out of three will win the jackpot, with a putt-off at the end of the round, in the event of a tie. Thanks to the sponsorship of Aspirus Clinic in Rhinelander, the jackpot will be at least $75 plus one-half of contest sales.
The Rhinelander ABC?Golf Scramble, sponsored by Rhinelander GM Auto Center, is a five-person Florida scramble. Players register individually and are grouped into fivesomes by the pro shop prior to the tournament.
Registration is ongoing, but space is limited to the first 150 golfers, so register soon to insure your spot in the tournament.
Registration is $95, $65 for members of Rhinelander Country Club. The price includes 18 holes of golf, a cart, pin prizes and dinner. There will be gambling holes on the course, where golfers will have the opportunity to earn tickets for the chance to win rounds of golf at several area courses. There will be two flights. The first flight will tee off a 8 a.m., the second at 1 p.m.
“Participants will be supporting a great cause and have the chance to win a 2013 Chevy Malibu,”?Goes said. “It’s going to be a fun event.”
Golfers are invited to return to the Rhinelander Country Club clubhouse at 6 p.m. for an expertly prepared steak dinner. During the evening, 50/50 and prize raffle tickets will be sold, with all the proceeds benefitting the ABC. The evening will conclude with a live auction, featuring several wonderful items from area businesses, organizations and individuals.
New this year, those not golfing will be welcome to take part in the dinner. Tickets for the dinner are on sale for $20 per person.
