Minocqua event to showcase brews from Wisconsin and the Northwoods

By Laurie Lenten

If quenching your summertime thirst with an ice cold brew is on your to-do list, then look no further than the 15th Annual Beer-A-Rama, to be held on Saturday, July 27, from 1 to 5 p.m., at the new pavilion at Torpy Park in Minocqua.

This annual event, previously hosted by the Lac du Flambeau Lions Club, this year is presented by the Minocqua Lions Club. It will showcase craft breweries from the Northwoods and throughout Wisconsin offering up samplings of their finest craft beers in a festive atmosphere that will feature the music of Dublin O’Shea, along with food, water and merchandise available for sale by the Minocqua Lions.

According to Justin Nimsgern, event coordinator for Beer-A-Rama, the event will feature beers from over 30 craft breweries from Wisconsin including four local Northwoods breweries – the Minocqua Brewing Company; Rocky Reef Brewing Company, Woodruff; Some Nerve Brewing Company, Manitowish Waters; and the Rhinelander Brewing Company.

Online ticket sales will go on until tickets are either sold out, or end one week before the event on Sunday, July 21.

Ticket prices are: Early Bird (until July 21) $30, Early Bird V.I.P (until July 21) $50, General Admission $40, General V.I.P. Admission $60, and Designated Driver Admission $10.

The Early Bird and General Admissions include entrance to the event at 2 p.m. and a Beer-A-Rama sampling glass. The V.I.P. Admissions include entrance at 1 p.m., a Beer-A-Rama sampling glass and t-shirt along with one food and one water ticket. Designated Driver Admission includes entrance at any time plus one food and one water ticket. A limited number of tickets will be available on the day of the event beginning at 2 p.m. for $50 (cash only). Refunds will be given up to seven days before the event.

All proceeds from the 15th Annual Beer-A-Rama will be donated to various Lakeland community organizations and projects.

“The Minocqua Lions Club gives over $50,000 annually to the community. We support such things as the Lakeland Scholarship Foundation, Dr. Kate Hospice, and the Lakeland Food Pantry, as well as give scholarships for children to attend summer camp at the Wisconsin Lions Club Camp in Schofield,” said Nimsgern, “Our events are very well supported by the community.”

Entrance to the event will be located next to the Torpy Park sign. Must be 21 or older to enter the venue. ID’s will be required. Tickets can be presented on your cell phone (preferred method) or in printed copy form.

Children and pets are NOT allowed at Beer-A-Rama, as well as bare feet – shoes or sandals must be worn. Parking for the event will be available at Torpy Park and other Town of Minocqua public parking lots. The Minocqua Lions Club asks that you make plans to have a safe way to get home.
