STAR JOURNAL REPORT

A large turnout is expected for the memorial service planned for 10 a.m. May 4 in Woodruff for the victims of the Spirit helicopter crash April 26.

Ascension Wisconsin and Air Methods are hosting the service to pay tribute to the their three colleagues at Holy Family Catholic Church. The 90-minute program will conclude with a flyover by air medical transport teams from across the state.

To clear up confusion regarding the service, Ascension has released a message to the community.

“Our first priority is to welcome anyone who has a connection to our organization. This includes clinicians, associates, volunteers, EMS and public safety partners, board members, patients, donors or anyone in the community who desires to attend and pay tribute with us,” the message states.

Overflow spaces will be available, but there will also be a Facebook Live webcast of the service on the Ascension Wisconsin Spirit Medical Transport Facebook Page. https://www.facebook.com/AscensionWisconsinSpirit/.

Air Methods pilot Rico Caruso, flight paramedic Greg Rosenthal and flight nurse Klint Mitchell were killed when the helicopter they were in crashed in the town of Hazelhurst late Thursday, April 26. The crew was returning to Woodruff after transporting a patient to Madison.
