GIRLS HOCKEY: Northern Edge shuts out Medford, 9-0

STAR JOURNAL REPORT

The Northern Edge girls hockey team did all the scoring Tuesday night in a 9-0 Great Northern Conference victory over Medford at the Langlade County Multi-Purpose Building.

The Edge, which scored three times in each period, outshot Medford, 45-10. Alicia Turunen recorded the shutout win in goal.

Leading scorers for the Rhinelander/Antigo co-op included Payton Bunnell and Ellen Padgett with two goals apiece. Haley Thom tallied her first varsity goal. Madi Losch recorded four assists.

The Edge scored on three of its four power plays and also went 3-3 on the penalty kill.

The win improved the Edge’s season record to 2-2-0-1 in the GNC and 6-10-1 overall going into Monday’s home game in Antigo against Northland Pines.
