Five arrested in connection with death of a Vilas County man

Five suspects have been arrested in connection with the death of a Lac du Flambeau man, who was last seen Dec. 22.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) reported the body of Wayne Valliere, Jr., 25, was found Jan. 1, in Iron County. The DCI is investigating the death.

Law enforcement has identified and apprehended five suspects in connection with Valliere’s death. The Iron County District Attorney is handling the prosecution of this case with the assistance of an assistant attorney general from the DOJ Criminal Litigation Unit.

This DCI-led investigation has been a collaboration between Ashland County Sheriff’s Office, Forest County Sheriff’s Office, Iron County Sheriff’s Office, Lac du Flambeau Police Department, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Milwaukee Police Department, Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, Vilas County Sheriff’s Office, and Wisconsin State Patrol.
